December 26, 2017 – The countdown is on until the start of the 12th edition of the Viessmann FIS Cross-Country Tour de Ski presented by Le Gruyère. Seven legs in less than ten days, the multi-stage event gets its inspiration from the Tour de France.

Action begins Saturday, Dec. 30 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, for three days of racing. Then it heads over to Obertsdorf, Germany Jan. 3-4, and ends up in Val di Fiemme (Italy) on January 6-7, 2018 finishing with the famed final climb on Alpe Cermis. Defending champs are Heidi Weng (Nor) and Sergey Ustiugov (Rus).

“We all look forward to upcoming Tour, it is one of our most successful events as a whole,” said FIS World Cup Race Director, Pierre Mignerey. “We’ll have to see who will show up at the start, as this is also the Olympic year and some athletes may choose to focus on the Olympics only. Val di Fiemme is our trademark and I couldn’t imagine a Tour without it.”

The grueling final climb on Alpe Cermis is scheduled for Sunday, January 7 along with side events the Tour del Gusto and Rampa con i Campioni.
