October 28, 2010 (Lebanon, NH) – Alpina Sports, Corp. (ASC), a leading importer and distributor of ski equipment throughout North America, today announced that it has been awarded exclusive, United States distribution rights for Elan skis.
Founded in 1945, Elan is one of the top ski and snowboard manufacturers in world, known for its modern designs, excellent characteristics and top performance. Alpina will take over US distribution of the Elan line of downhill skis starting January 2011. Current distributor, Dalbello Sports, will shift its focus to exploring opportunities in the active, outdoor footwear market in addition to its core business as a leading manufacturer and distributor of Alpine boots.
“For over 20 years, Alpina has enjoyed a fruitful working relationship with Elan in many other countries around the world, so we’re very excited to extend this partnership to the US,” comments Steve Kvinlaug, President of Alpina Sports.
In recent years, Elan has experienced steady gains in popularity due much in part to its WaveFlex technology. Now a part of nearly every ski Elan offers, WaveFlex has won critical acclaim around the world, garnering more awards than any other ski technology in the world including both the Red Dot and Plus X awards in 2010.
