December 23, 2007 – The 2007-2008 CCC Para-Nordic Coach Development Fund is an opportunity for individuals who have an interest in learning more about coaching skiers with a disability. Sport Canada has allocated funding to help CCC promote and deliver programs that focus on the development of para-Nordic grassroots. CCC has identified, across all regions of Canada, the need to increase the number of educated Community Coaches who are trained to work with skiers with a disability. The aim is to provide financial support for NCCP training for individuals who are:

– New to coaching skiers with a disability
– Currently coaching skiers with a disability but have no formal NCCP training
– Looking to enhance their knowledge and experience as existing NCCP coaches working with skiers who have a disability

CCC will provide financial assistance towards the cost of travel and accommodation for individuals who wish to attend the NCCP Community Coaching Workshop with an “athletes with a disability” component, being held in Mt. Washington, British Columbia on January 25th – 27th, 2008. Applicants will be responsible for the cost of registration ($70), meals and personal incidentals. Eligibility & Requirements

Criteria:
Applicants must meet the following criteria prior to applying for 07 – 08 CCC Para-Nordic Coach Development Funding:

1. Have completed the NCCP Introduction to Community Coaching (ICC) Workshop and prescribed tasks. For the coaches of both able bodied and disabled skiers, this workshop is a prerequisite to the next step in the NCCP coach education process

2. Be a member of a CCC Registered Club. To find a registered club in your area, visit main.asp?cmd=cat&ID=141&lan=0 and select your province of residence.

Applicants are asked to complete the attached application form, outlining how this training will benefit them as a participant as well as how they plan to use their training to develop and promote para-nordic skiing within their club and/or Division.

Applications must be submitted by January 7th, 2008 with successful applicants being contacted by January 9th with information on how to reserve travel and accommodation.
