2009 Birkie Masters Camp at Telemark Resort

July 10, 2009 (Madison, WI) – August 7-9 is set for the annual Masters Camp for all level skiers. Looking for your best jump start for the upcoming season and a great vacation as well? CXC now offers a summer camp for master skiers of all abilities and levels. This camp is filled with technique group instructions, individual lessons, presentations, moderate training, evening seminars, and a lake side evening barbecue with the CXC Elite Team. Other activities include road and mountain biking, paddling, and running or hiking on the Birkie Trail and.

Program 1: Beginner
Interested in getting on skis for the first time, or just starting to get the hang of it? This camp program emphasizes sound fundamentals, from proper body position to essentials of movement in all techniques.

Program 2: Intermediate
If you’ve already got the skills, here’s how to take them to the next level. For master skiers who want to improve their Birkie results, this challenging camp program features advanced drills, physical training and frequent video analysis.

Program 3: Advanced
This option is for master skiers who have made a commitment to ski in the Elite and first wave at the Birkie. Challenging and intense, this camp will provide you with a unique opportunity of elite coaching and sports science support.

– Bryan Fish – CXC Elite Team Coach and 2007 USSA Development Coach of the Year
– Igor Badamshin – CXC Junior Development Coach and 1993 Nordic World Championships Bronze medalist

– Yuriy Gusev – CXC Athletic Director

Camp Schedule:

Friday, August 7:
– 10:00AM to 12:00PM – Arrival and Check In (Telemark Resort lobby)
– 12:00PM to 1:00PM – Lunch (Outpost Restaurant, Telemark Resort)
– 2:00PM to 4:00PM – Skate Technique Progressions
– 5:00PM to 6:00PM – Ski Selection Seminar
– 6:30PM to 7:30PM – Dinner and presentation with the 2009 American Birkebeiner winner Matt Liebsch
– 8:00PM to 9:00PM – Ski Flex Testing and Demo of 3D Nordic Pressure Mat (bring your own skis to test)

Saturday, August 8:
– 7:00AM to 7:30AM – Morning Stretching
– 7:30AM to 8:30AM – Breakfast
– 9:00AM to 11:00AM – Classic Technique Progressions
– 12:00AM to 1:00PM – Lunch
– 1:00PM to 3:00PM – Birkie Trail Run/Hike or Road Bike or Mountain Bike or Pool Workout
– 4:30PM to 6:30PM – Barbeque and presentation with 2009 World Cup Team members
– 6:30PM to 8:00PM – Designing a Successful Training Program Seminar

Sunday, August 9:
– 7:00AM to 7:30AM – Morning Core Strength
– 7:30AM to 8:30AM – Breakfast
– 9:00AM to 12:00AM – Skate and Classic Technique Progressions Preview and Video Analyses
– 12:00PM to 1:00PM – Lunch
– 1:00PM to 3:00PM – Waxing Seminar
– 3:00PM to 4:00PM – Departure and Check Out

Note: Participants will be divided into groups based on ability and gender as needed. Each group will work independently with assigned coaches for technique sessions.

Camp Fees including all meals:
Program 1: Beginner – $250 w/out lodging or $300 w/double occupancy lodging or $375 w/single occupancy lodging
Program 2: Intermediate – $325 w/out lodging or $375 w/double occupancy lodging or $450 w/single occupancy lodging
Program 3: Advanced – $400 w/out lodging or $450 w/double occupancy lodging or $525 w/single occupancy lodging
