2009 Rock and Ice Ultra – Day 2 Results

March 23, 2009 (Yellowknife, NWT) – The Rock and Ice Ultra event is a 225km foot, snowshoe or XC ski race in the wilds of the North West Territories. Runners must carry snowshoes and skiers must use classic or back country skis on un-groomed trails. the even is open to solo competitors only – no teams or relays.

The Diamond Ultra is a self-supported, 6-day / 6-stage race following a well-marked trail. Racers may re-supply at MATRIX Village on day 3. Racers are required to pack a kit including all the necessary food and equipment to survive for the duration of the race. Participants must also possess basic navigational and map reading skills.

The winner at the end of the 6-day race will win a 0.7 carat EKATI Diamond worth $6,085. New for this year is diamonds for male and female categories in 2009. In total, over $37,000 worth of EKATI Diamonds will be awarded to eight lucky winners.
