January 24, 2014 (Val di Fiemme, Italy) – Almost one year after the successful FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, Val di Fiemme (ITA) will once again be hosting the top Nordic skiers from all over the world. A total of 646 athletes from 41 countries will participate in the FIS Nordic Junior & U23 World Ski Championships, which will take place from January 27 – February 3,2014.
The competitions will be hosted by two well-known venues, Lago di Tesero and Predazzo. Juniors up to 20 years of age will compete for fifteen sets of medals in Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined, while six competitions in Cross-Country await the men and ladies in the under-23 category.
Good snow conditions
Despite difficult weather conditions in recent weeks both competition venues are ready for the world’s best young Nordic skiers. The Cross-Country venue in Lago di Tesero hosted two stages of the FIS Tour de Ski at the beginning of the year and the competition courses are in good shape with a good amount of snow. The ski jumps are also ready for the first official training scheduled for Tuesday, 28th January.
Winter festival
During the FIS Junior and U23 World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme there will be time not only for great sporting events but also for culture. Various bands and music groups will perform in Predazzo. On 31st January a Beatles tribute band will be playing music of the most famous band ever in the sport centre in Predazzo.
On Saturday 1st February the party will continue with the Winterfest of Predazzo. The show goes on for participants, singing and dancing with the local Dolomiten Band.
