June 27, 2012 - Sweden’s Cross-Country team met at Orsa/Grönklitt for a week long snow free training camp. Charlotte Kalla, Marcus Hellner, Anna Haag and co. are sharpening their shape for the coming winter season among polar bears.
Swedish Cross-Country team carried out the free joint training camp in May in Mallorca, where they got started smoothly with the dry land workouts. “In Orsa/Grönklitt we are going to exercise seven hard training days with plenty of running of roller skiing. Mostly they will be long and hard, but we are also planning to carry out quality interval sessions where sprinters and distance specialists can challenge each other,” coach Arild Monsen says.
Ladies’ coach Rikard Grip is going to follow the same line. “As part of the development, we shall work consciously with the quality in focus. We are going to work hard and then analyze the technical details together. This can include the diagonal skiing, skating and double poling. Thanks to world class sprint and distance skiers training together they can learn from each,” Grip explains.
The health of the A-team is relatively good. Anders Soedergren is missing among the men as he is about to become the father. Jens Eriksson and Jesper Modin skip out the first camp due to cold they have caught. Also Maria Rydqvist and Hanna Brodin sit out the camp due to illness. Additionally Fredrik Jonsson, Mia Eriksson and Linn Sömskar from the development Team 2015 have been invited to the A-squad camp.
