August 23, 2006 — Those wanting to get fit and stay in shape are invited to the 4th Annual American Birkebeiner Trail Run coming up on Saturday, September 23, 2006 in Hayward, Wis. Last year more than 100 runners participated on a crisp, colorful fall morning, and organizers are expecting even higher numbers this year.

Executive Director Ned Zuelsdorff said participants choose from three events, all run on the world-famous American Birkebeiner Trail.

ìThe 15K (9.3 miles) Run is a point-to-point race from Mosquito Brook Road to OO and begins at 10 a.m.,î Zuelsdorff said. ìThe 5K (3.1 miles) Run is an out and back loop at OO beginning at 10 a.m., and the Kidís 1K Run is also an out and back loop at OO beginning after the 5K event.

ìIn addition to a great day on the trail, there are lots of goodies for runners including a great T-shirt, 10-year increment age class awards, post race food, beverages, lots of door prizes, and a whole lot of fun!î
