Adele Espy Blog – West Yellowstone Recap

by Adele Espy
November 30, 2009 (West Yellowstone, MT) – The skiing in West Yellowstone has been magnificent! The races are over and most of the crowd has moved out of town. This past week the ski trails were streaming with skiers ranging in age from infants to grandparents. Now the town and trails seem vacant. There are a small handful of teams hanging in West Yellowstone before heading over to Bozeman. This morning it was -5° at 9:00 am when I started skiing. It definitely feels like winter!

Race Recap
There were three races in the West: a classic sprint, a 10/15km freestyle distance race, and a 5/10km classic distance race. There was great competition in all the races. I only competed in the 5km classic because my legs were not ready to sprint or skate ski yet. Although my race was not stellar my shins held up really well in the race and didn’t hurt or swell during or after the effort at all! – read more about Adele’s injury here.

I’m on the road to recovery!
