by skitrax.com

September 30, 2008 (Oslo, Norway) – Anders Aukland and Kristin Steira proved they don’t just have to rely on skis to move across the ground quickly. The two Norwegian skiers were among a handful of former and current National ski team members that laced up their running shoes to compete in the national cross-country running championships on September 13 according to a report in www.wintersports.as. Steira easily won the women’s overall championship in a time of 24:28, a full 55 seconds ahead of second place. Aukland who for years has shown he can run with his country’s best on the track (14 min in the 5,000m earlier this year), was second overall in 32:41 just seven seconds off the race win.

Simen Oestensen raced in the open class and finished in 8th at 1:25 behind Aukland. National team members Peter Northug and Astrid Jacobsen were also on the starting list but did not compete. For complete results click here.
