May 7, 2007 – Barbara Hillary from Averne, N.Y., at 75 years, is one of oldest people to reach the North Pole and according to USA Today is likely the first black woman to accomplish the feat. Hillary took cross-country skiing lessons and hired a personal trainer to ready herself for the journey which she undertook with Eagles Cry Adventures, Inc., a travel company that specializes in unique adventures.
