December 18 2003 –  The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has decided to uphold the requests for arbitration filed by the Norwegian athletes Thomas Alsgaard, Frode Estil and Kristen Skjeldal and by the Canadian athlete Beckie Scott in the cases CAS 2002/O/372 Norwegian Olympic Committee and Confederation of Sports, Thomas Alsgaard, Frode Estil and Kristen Skjeldal v/IOC and CAS 2002/O/373 Canadian Olympic Committee and Beckie Scott v/IOC.

The CAS has considered that the decision made by the IOC Executive Board on 24 February 2002 to exclude Johann Muehlegg and Olga Danilova from the XIX Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City should have entailed the disqualification of both athletes from all the races in which they participated during the Games and the withdrawal of all medals they won in those races.

Consequently, these cases are remitted to the IOC Executive Board to render a new decision in accordance with the CAS awards.
