by skitrax.com

October 31, 2011 (Beitostolen, Norway) – With the continuing lack of snow and mild temperatures forecast into next weekend, organizers of the FIS and World Cup races slated for Beitostolen are conceding that the risk of cancellation has increased. According to reports on Langrenn.com and nrk.no, event organizers are still unable to make snow and have just days to make a decision on cancellation.

Beitostolen is to host the first FIS races of the season on November 11-13, followed by the World Cup season opener on November 19-20. Officials from the Norwegian Ski Association will visit the race site this Wednesday to make a decision about the FIS races, and have until November 5 to make a decision about the World Cup event, according to FIS regulations. Beitostolen was last stricken by a cancellation back in 2005, also due to lack of snow.
