June 22, 2006 – Bell Canada will continue its support of Canadian Paralympic teams through 2008, 2010 and 2012, as well as for the 2007, 2009 and 2011 Para Pan-American Games. This is part of Bell’s overall commitment to Canadian sport, high performance, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

“Bell Canada is helping Canadian Paralympic Athletes achieve top notch results on the international scene,” said Henry Wohler, President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. “In Beijing in 2008, Vancouver in 2010 and London in 2012, our athletes are aiming for gold and Bell Canada will play an important part in attaining this goal.”

For the first time as a Team Sponsor, Bell Canada will provide CPC with a mix of financial and in-kind services. Bell’s past involvement has included supporting team development and communications programs, such as the Athens 2004 Paralympic Spokespersons Team.

Bell Canada is a true leader in Canadian amateur sport system. Last year, Bell announced its participation as founding sponsor of the Own The Podium 2010 program, aimed at placing Canada among the top three nations at the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Bell’s contribution to Own the Podium 2010 will support initiatives focused on research and development of innovative new technologies designed to improve athlete performance.

“Canada’s Paralympians are recognized the world-over as leaders at the Paralympic Games,” says Loring Phinney, Vice President, Olympic Marketing, Bell Canada. “We will continue to rally around these great Canadian athletes and are delighted to know that we have played a role in supporting their dreams.”
