Bormio 1 & 2
The clouds moved out yesterday afternoon on the Stelvio glacier on the Swiss/Italian border. I skated by myself for an hour and a half. It was fast hard snow. I had a great ski. The trail was in good shape because the wind drifts only covered the classic tracks. Interestingly, the top house for one of the poma lifts (for the alpine skiers) is up a cliff. When you’re riding the poma you release the bar at the top of the snow well below the top of the lift. I wonder why they decided to continue the lift up so high, unless the snow level is that much higher in the spring than it is now.

Sweet As!
It’s been go go go since my last update which was when we went up to Castle Mtn Hut.  Since then I’ve developed a very close relationship with our new treadmill, been up to Whitehorse to celebrate the wedding of some good friends, had a visit from my parents and some great friends from Almonte, and been once again back at the SnowFarm in New Zealand where I put in some seriously awesome days of skiing in the Southern Hemisphere.

Xterra Trail Nationals
I flew back to Park City on Tuesday night after spending 2 days at home with my parents after our Lake Placid camp.  So nice to be home, always, and to see my family seems to be becoming more and more special as I get older and more mature:)  Jessie Diggins greeted me home, as she has moved in for the remainder of the fall and it is really nice to have the house not feel so empty and have a buddy to train with!  Yesterday I raced in the Xterra Trail Running National Championship which takes place in Ogden, Utah each year.  I have competed in this race 3 years now, though not consecutively, and each year has been different and fun.  Its a great course, climbing over 2200 feet in 21K, but is a loop, so there is quite a bit of downhill as well.

Das Boot
I didn’t even trip and fall this time. Nope, not a stumble. Amazing, coming from me, the queen of falling during easy workouts! Yet somehow I managed to injure my right foot while running the second to last day of our training camp in Lake Placid. We were trail running and suddenly my right foot was hurting so much that I had to limp back to the car, and couldn’t put weight on it without pain. The PT’s at the training center didn’t know exactly what was wrong since it was such a sudden onset, and the x-rays showed no break, so we put a boot on my foot and with the help of crutches, I took all pressure off my foot for a couple days.
