Brennan and Gelso Claim USSA SuperTour West Yellowstone 10/15km FR Titles – Results and Photos

November 29, 2014 (West Yellowstone, Montana) – Rosie Brennan (APU Nordic Ski Center) was the only woman to break the 27-min mark on her way to victory in the women’s 10km FR distance race today on Day 2 of the USSA SuperTour at West Yellowstone. Claiming second was Katharine Ogden (Stratton Mountain School) at 9s back followed by Brennan’s APU teammate Chelsea Holmes in third. The top Canadian was Heidi Widmer (AWCA-NST) making the top 10 in 9th in a field of 85 skiers.

Topping the men’s field was Sun Valley SEF’s Matt Gelso with Brian Gregg (Team Gregg Madshus) in second and Norway’s Mads Stroem (University Of Colorado), second in yesterday’s sprint, taking 3rd. Veteran national team skier Kris Freeman (Waterville Valley BBTS) was under the weather but still finished 4th with Tad Elliott (Ski and Snowboard Club Vail) in 5th. Patrick Stewart-Jones (Nakkertok) was the top Canadian in 17th at 2:15 minutes behind Gelso. Bob Thompson (NDC Thunder Bay) was 24th, Michael Somppi (AWCA-NST) placed 25th and Andy Shields (NDC Thunder Bay) was 26th.
