December 30, 2008 – The Boulder Nordic Club has lost a good friend, Brian Mahon, in the tragic shooting at Eldora this morning. Brian always was available to BNC to address our concerns about the Nordic trails. He skied the trails frequently with a member of BNC looking for ways to enhance the skiing experience. He personally has managed the trail improvements that have taken place since he became General Manager.

He decided to re-open the Antelope Creek trail a couple of years ago. Recently, he suggested a further expansion of the Antelope Creek trails. A couple of years ago he pressured his mountain manager, Dave Hunter, into skiing the trails and today Dave is an enthusiastic Nordic skier. We extend our condolences to Brian’s family and all the staff at Eldora. Many on the Board of the BNC worked at least indirectly with Brian and lament this tragedy personally and heavily.
