Canada’s Harvey Strong 6th as Northug Dominates Men’s Prologue at the Tour de Ski

December 29, 2012 (Oberhof, Germany) – Canada’s Alex Harvey put in a solid day at the office with a strong 6th-place finish at the Tour de Ski men’s 4km Prologue as Norwegian star Petter Northug pulled out all the stops to claim the victory as he did last year by a 6.1s margin over his nearest rival. Sweden’s Marcus Hellner took a solid silver as Russia also sounded the alarm with Alexander Legkov the third fastest man of the day as the Russians landed three skiers in the top 10. Defending champ Switzerland’s Dario Cologna placed 4th.

Andy Newell from Shaftsbury, VT was the next best North American with a respectable 21st place finish as Canuck Ivan Babikov continued his strong start just out of the points finishing 32nd on the day. The USA’s Kris Freeman was 35th, Devon Kershaw (CAN) is still looking for his second gear placing 48th while teammate Len Valjas was 52nd at his first TdS. American Noah Hoffman also debuting at the Tour placed 94th.
