  • Canada’s Renner to Focus on Sprints and Skips 10km

    by skitrax.com

February 13, 2010 (Whistler, B.C.) – Canada’s veteran skier, Sara Renner, is committing to the

“lung-busting” sprints following her recent bronze performance at the Alberta World Cup in Canmore, Alta. Renner will now skip Monday’s 10km cross-country race to focus on winning a medal at the midweek classic sprint races on Feb. 17.

The 33-year-old mother, and Team Sprint silver medallist from the 2006 Torino Olympics, gave the Canadian team a huge boost last Sunday with a surprise bronze medal finish in the 1.4km classic sprint at the World Cup in Canmore.

Renner explained the shift in plans during a team news conference, where she was joined by her 10 upbeat teammates, in their final meeting with the press before the cross-country ski competitions begin on Feb. 15. Read more about her decision in this report by the Canadian Press here.
