Canada’s Scott And Renner Move Up In International Ranking

provided by CC

December 19, 2005 – Beckie Scott and Sara Renner continue to maintain their positions as members of the FIS “Red Group” over the next period of racing on the World Cup circuit. This entitles them to more support from FIS and preferred positioning in races.

Beckie is ranked fifth on the distance list and seventh on the sprint list, while Sara Renner moves up to 29th on the distance list, entering the FIS “Red Group” in distance for the first time in a while. She also improved her position on the sprint ranking list, moving up to 9th. Chandra Crawford, another mover and shaker in the sprint world is now ranked 36th, only six spots out of a coveted “Red Group” position. Devon Kershaw is also ranked well in 33rd position on the men’s sprint list.

The FIS ranking lists are compiled from World Cup race results over the past year: each time a skier ranks in the top-30 they are awarded a certain number of points. The winner is awarded most points and the 30th finisher is only awarded one point. The ranking lists are compiled by summing each skier’s individual points over the last year.
