Canadian Ski Patrol Hosts World FIPS Conference Mar. 29-April 4

March 29, 2014 (Kelowna, British Columbia) – The Canadian Ski Patrol (CSP), a leader in advanced first aid services, is proud to host the world‚s international ski patrol association, the Federation Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS) at Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, British Columbia.

FIPS is an international corporation comprised of ski patrollers and ski safety bodies from around the world. This year, 13 countries, including the Unites States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Japan, Korea, Russia, Italy, France and Sweden will be represented at the conference. The event takes place from March 29 to April 4, 2014. More than 100 delegates from around the globe will take part in a variety of workshops and activities to help improve slope safety.

Avalanches are one of the main topics at this year‚s event, and the world-class work of the Canadian Avalanche Association and Canadian Avalanche Centre will be highlighted. On hill demonstrations will be part of the program on April 1.

Other issues that will be addressed include rescue techniques, first aid advancements, medical trends and comparison of emergency response in Canada to what is found in other parts of the world. Attendees will be covering and following the event on social media using the hashtag #FIPS2014.

The Canadian Ski Patrol has 4,500 members across the country, providing advanced first aid and on-snow rescue services to more than 230 ski areas. The Canadian Ski Patrol, founded in 1941, is a Canadian leader in advanced first aid services, year-round and on the slopes.
