provided by Ski Club Capracotta

February 21, 2007 – The Organizing Committee of the cross country ski race Continental Cup OPA-FIS / Cup Kurikkala – Alpen Cup Final set for March 3 and 4, 2007 in Capracotta (Italy), having realized that the snow conditions along the track are not in the standard to allow an up to level race for the European Cup, has been cancelled.

As this winter season unfortunatly appears not to be getting better and the temperature is still too high in the Molise resort of Capracotta nearby Isernia, the unexpected result is that the event has just been cancelled.

The local administration of Capracotta thanks the Regione Molise, Provincia di Isernia, Isernia Chamber of Commerce, the Alto Molise Mountain Community of Agnone, the Consorzio di Campitello Matese and all the civil and military authorities who have given their best to collaborate in order to prepair the Capracotta event, which was ready in details to host the Continental Cup.

A special thank goes to the Ambassy of Spain, France, Switzerland and to the Consulate of Germany located in Naples who have honoured this event with their support.

The Organizing Committe would also like to thank all media. A special thank goes to the extraordinary efforts of Capracotta ski club and the Capracotta people who have tryed their best to arrange hospitality to this event in Prato Gentile, hoping for last minute snow, which unfortunatly never arrived.

Capracotta looks toward the future, as a matter of fact the local Ski Club has already got in touch with FISI and FIS representatives to ask again that a race of the cross country ski Continental Cup could be re-assigned in the next winter season to Capracotta.
