September 11, 2003 – There will a change within the staff at CCC's National Office this fall. Katherine Hamilton, who has been filling the position of Coordinator Sport Participation Development (CSPD) on a contract basis since September 2002, will be leaving CCC to pursue other opportunities. CCC is appreciative of Katherine's contributions to the Association.
CCC has determined that the CSPD position is critical to the aggressive pursuit of its mission, with a renewed emphasis on athlete development being the cornerstone on which the future success of our sport will be built. Therefore this position will become permanent.
As of September 15, the position will be filled by Jean-Francois Rapatel, who will relocate from Ottawa/Gatineau to Canmore to take up his duties. Jean-Francois is presently employed by the Canadian Interuniversity Sports organization, and comes to CCC with four years experience in program development, marketing and events management. Jean-Francois holds a BA in Kinesiology and a MA in Sport Administration. His first exposure to CCC was as a marketing assistant, while doing a four month internship in 1998, and he has been patiently waiting for the right opportunity to join the Association as a full-fledged employee. The only black mark in Jean-Francois' background is that he was extremely active in alpine racing as both a competitor and coach at the university level; he has since seen the error of his ways, and is now an enthusiastic cross-country skier.
