November 3, 2004 – Cross Country Canada officially launched its new
Community Coaching program on October 23rd, with the delivery of an
“Introduction to Community Coaching” workshop in Kamloops, British
Columbia. CCC is one of only seven in the first wave of sports that have
developed their Community Coaching program. The Community Sport initiative
is part of a major competency- based updating of the NCCP, Canada’s
National Coaching Certification program for all sports.

To date over 50 people from six provinces and two territories have been
trained to facilitate the workshops. An additional 25 facilitators will be
trained in three more courses, in Quebec and the Atlantic region, during
