December 26, 2015 (Norway) – Marit Bjoergen, 36, and her partner, Fred Børre Lundberg, are the proud parents of a new baby boy according to several Scandinavian news reports as released by the Norwegian Ski Federation in a statement. Both Bjoergen and the newborn are doing well. “He is the loveliest little baby, and we are so proud parents,” said Bjoergen of her first child in the release.

“Marit and our newborn son are doing well,” said Lundberg, who was present for the birth, and has a child from a previous relationship. No details are available as the family requested some privacy and wished everyone a Merry Christmas.

Bjoergen, the sports most celebrated skier, announced her pregnancy back in June and is the second Norwegian to have a child as her teammate and sprint star, Ola Vigen Hattestad, recently had a son Ludvig with his Slovenian girlfriend Katja Visnar, also a top xc skier. More announcements are coming as Finland’s Aino-Kaisa Saarinen and American star Kikkan Randall are both pregnant as well.
