May 29, 2010   – Cross Country Alberta (CCA), Camrose Ski Club and the University of Alberta, Augustana Faculty are seeking a Development / High Performance Coach to support and develop the Camrose Regional Training Centre, which includes Camrose Ski Club Programs and the Augustana Vikings Cross Country Ski Team, focusing on athlete and coaching development.

The primary orientation of the position is towards improving the quality of athletes graduating from the CCA club development system and being an assistant coach for the Augustana Ski Team.   The secondary aim is to work with cross country ski clubs in the northern half of Alberta and to train volunteer coaches who are developing athletes in their clubs.

The Coach will report to the Camrose Ski Club President on all club matters relating to the Regional Training Centre.   The Coach will report to the Augustana Director of Athletics on all Augustana matters relating to the Regional Training Centre.   The Coach will report to the Cross Country Alberta (CCA) Sport Manager on all matters relating to club outreach and CCA sponsored activities. The Camrose Ski Club President, Augustana Director of Athletics, and the CCA Sport Manager will work with the Coach to develop a coordinated work plan.

Education:
The applicant must have a degree or diploma in Physical Education, Recreation Administration, or a similar program.  The applicant will have the old or new NCCP or equivalent certification. Preference will be given to applicants having NCCP Level 2 or Competitive Coach Introduction (CCI) training or higher. In lieu of the NCCP certification, international experience in Cross Country Skiing or Biathlon will be considered.

Experience:
Demonstrated cross country ski coaching experience is required.   Previous experience in sport-related management and event management is an asset along with ability as a team builder, an independent worker, and effective communicator.   Experience in working with non-profit Board organizations would be an asset.

This is a seven month term position from September 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 based in Camrose, Alberta. The position may continue for subsequent terms.

Remuneration is commensurate with experience and qualifications, and will be in the $25,000 – $30,000 range. The successful candidate will be required to have a police record check as part of the qualifications for the position.  The successful candidate will be required to sign the CAC coaching code of conduct and contract for this term position.
