May 17, 2006 – In a few days, the 45th International FIS Congress in Vilamoura (POR) will begin. From May 21st to the 24th, the different FIS Committees will have their meetings, on the 25th of May the Council will convene and on the 26th of May, the General Assembly will be held on the beautiful coast of Algarve.

Several topics will be on the Cross-Country Committee’s agenda. These include the confirmation of the World Cup Calendar for the Season 2006/2007 as well as the preliminary plan for the World Cup Calendar 2007/2008. Other topics concern the final approval of the Tour de Ski sport rules, the World Cup rules for 2006/2007 including the possibility to combine a sprint and distance race on a single weekend, the approval of the World Cup Organizer handbook and a discussion about ensuring and improving TV broadcasting quality.
