Dorin Habert Takes Oestersund IBU WCup Sprint – Dunklee 27th, Ransom 32nd

December 03, 2016 (Oestersund, Sweden) – The USA’s Susan Dunklee finished 27th in the women’s 7.5km sprint with two misses on the range at 1:29.9 behind winner Marie Dorin Habert (Fra) who shot clean for the win. Finland’s Kaisa Makarainen challenged, but a single standing penalty pushed her into second place at 11.4 seconds back.

Czech Republic star, Gabriela Koukalova, matched Dorin Habert in shooting clean, but finished third at 19.9 seconds behind. The top Canadian was Julia Ransom who also perfect on the range placing 32nd at 1:54.1 behind the winner.

“After a rough day in the individual, I’m satisfied with a more normal feeling race and a top 30 in the sprint,” said Dunklee. “We had no wind at all and the field as a whole shot much better. All of our ladies qualified for tomorrow’s pursuit and we are thrilled.”

Clare Egan was 44th with two misses at 2:04 back while her teammate Joanne Reid finished 53rd at 2:21 off the pace also with two missed targets. Canada’s Rosanna Crawford was 64th with two misses as well at 2:40.3 back followed by Megan Tandy in 78th at 3:09.1 behind with a couple of penalties. Fellow Canuck, Sarah Beaudry, was 97th with the same result on the range.

The women’s sprint, with 103 starters, kicked off the third competition day at BMW IBU World Cup 1. After two windy evenings, the weather finally cooperated with sunshine and the wind flags motionless at the shooting range.
