Employment Opportunities: Biathlon Coach and Cross Country Ski Coach

May 15, 2012 (Camrose, AB) – The University of Alberta – Augustana Campus (Augustana) in conjunction with the Camrose Ski Club (CSC) are seeking a coach for the Augustana Vikings Biathlon Team as well as some club coaching with the CSC. Augustana and CSC are embarking on an exciting and unique partnership to provide high-quality biathlon programs for youth to university athletes. The coach will play a central role in delivering and enhancing these programs.

Augustana has a proud history in competitive biathlon. Many Augustana athletes have very successfully competed at the provincial, national, and international levels. CSC maintains an outstanding and very conveniently accessible 15 km system of cross country ski trails. Biathlon Coach
The following qualifications will be considered in assessing candidates: a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in an applicable program; a successful background in coaching biathlon and/or experience as an athlete competing in biathlon; appropriate NCCP or equivalent certification; excellent organizational skills; good oral and written communication skills; demonstrated leadership and motivational skills; demonstrated ability to connect with athletes from youth to the university level; and ability to facilitate and develop community partnerships.

The eight month term position is part-time (from August to March), and is based out of Camrose, Alberta.  For the ideal candidate, there is an opportunity to combine this position with other coaching, teaching or administrative opportunities in cross country skiing and/or outdoor education.   Salary is commensurate with education and experience and a comprehensive benefits package is provided.
