March 25, 2012 (Craftsbury Common, VT) – Veteran USST Teamer, Kris Freeman from New Hampshire, battled with new WCup team member Noah Hoffman (SSC Vail/USST) for top honours in the men’s 14.4km Classic Mass Start on day two of the USSA Supertour Finals taking the win by a mere 1.4s margin, with Erik Bjornsen (APU) grabbing the final podium spot at 15.5s behind. For Hoffman and Bjornsen it was their second podium in as many days. Simi Hamilton (SVSEF) was 4th followed by Tad Elliott (CXC) in 5th.
The Bjornsen’s were not done yet as Erik’s sister Sadie, a U23 skier who won historic WCup team sprint silver in Dusseldorf this season with Kikkan Randall, lead an APU sweep of the women’s 9.6km CL race with a solid victory and a 5.7s gap over team mate Rosie Brennan in second followed by Holly Brooks in third at 26.2s behind. Veteran WCup skier Liz Stephen (Burke Mountain Academy) was fourth at 29.5 while APU’s Becca Rorabaugh was 6th followed by yesterday’s winner Jessie Diggins (CXC) in 7th.
