Frenette and Jerome Take U.S. Ski Jumping Large Hill Titles

July 30, 2011 (Park City, UT) – Olympic ski jumper Peter Frenette (Saranac Lake, NY) took his third straight U.S. title Saturday at the U.S. Ski Jumping Championships in Park City. Jessica Jerome took the women’s crown for her eighth career U.S. title.

Frenette, who swept the large and normal hill at U.S. Championships last year, beat the field by 11 points. Jerome beat out the women’s field by jumping almost ten meters further than anyone else in both her round one and round two jumps. 2009 World Champion Lindsey Van (Park City, UT), who swept both titles last season, was third.

–    Frenette’s third straight U.S. title
–    Frenette was youngest Olympian in Vancouver in 2010.
–    Jerome’s eighth career U.S. title.
–    Jerome also took wins at both women’s competitions in the Springer Tournee openers earlier in week.
–    Normal hill and Nordic combined U.S. Championships will continue at Norge Ski Club at Fox River Grove, IL. on Oct. 1.
–    Frenette and Jerome had long jumps of the competition, at 126.5 and 127.5 meters respectively
