Maya Macisaac-Jones from Canmore Alberta took first place in the Open Women’s 1.25 Km Buff Sprint A Final. Macisaac-Jones also placed first in the qualification round with a time of 3:29.2 almost eight seconds faster than Edmonton Nordic Club’s Ember Large who took second place in the A Final. Third place in the women’s A Final went to UBC skier Kirsty Bock.
Philip Widmer from the Canmore Nordic Club took top place in the Open Men’s 1.6 Km Buff Sprint A Final . Widmer also placed first in the qualification round with a time of 3:43.4. There was a close battle for second and third place in the Men’s A Finals with Sebastien Townsend from Quebec’s Nakkertok Nordique finishing second, edging out Julien Locke from Rossland’s Black Jack Club who finished third.
After three days of competition, BC is still leading in the aggregate points with 2150 on the Interval Start races from Thursday and 2195 aggregate points points for the past two days of Sprint races. Alberta is in second place with 1567 points from Thursday and 1605 aggregate points for the two days of sprint races. Northwest Territories has moved into third place with 220 points from Thursday and 252 from sprints, just one point ahead of Ontario with 231 points from Thursday and 240 points from the past two days of sprints. Manitoba is in fifth place with 201 points and 208 points, and in sixth place is Saskatchewan with 159 points from Thursday and 116 points from the two days of sprints.
