July 05, 2014 (Seward, AK) – Renowned former USST skier, Holly Brooks, claimed the women’s victory at the grueling 2014 Mount Marathon Race on July 4. Brooks edged out last year’s champion Christy Marvin by a couple of seconds as Allie Ostrander won the Junior competition over Michael Marshall. According to the Alaska Dispatch, Ostrander passed Marshall on the street portion of the race coming into the finish – it was the first time in the junior race’s history that a girl beat out all other competitors. Eric Strabel won the men’s race over Matias Saari.
