Hosting Bids for Canadian 2012 Haywood Ski Nationals

release by CCC

June 30, 2010 – Interested clubs are invited to submit Letters of Interest and Bid Packages for the 2012 National Cross-Country Ski Championships. Interested Clubs should use the technical considerations outlined within the current Technical Package in addition to the other reference material outlined in the Bid Package in preparing the bid. As our most prestigious domestic event, the 2012 Nationals will be sanctioned by CCC and FIS. To conform to the interest of FIS to run sanctioned events on homologated trails, Clubs should be prepared to present homologated trails for the event. Maximum and total climbs for the FIS events (Open Category) are only one element of homologation. Mass start events, sprint heats and team sprints require stadium areas of significant size and trail widths of at least 8 – 10 meters. In addition, appropriate trails must be available in parallel with LTAD considerations.

Please note that the dates of the 2012 National Cross-Country Ski Championships will be impacted by considerations such as geographic location (the present interest is to host in Eastern Canada), International events and the NST / PNST schedules. Some flexibility in this area will be required of the successful applicant until such time as FIS confirms the dates of the 2012 competition calendar. The successful Club should also be prepared to host a nationally sanctioned event prior to the Ski Nationals.
