March 17 2007 (Travisio, Italy) – Italy’s Lisa Demetz, 18 years old, has just gone through a difficult season, yet she was at her best for the most important competition of the year yesterday winning HS100 gold at the 2007 Junior Nordic Worlds, where 12 nations competed.

After the first jump she was in first. During the final round she was the last to jump from Planica’s HS100 ski jump. Before her attempt, she went into the woods to take time to concentrate and give the best of herself in the final jump.

During the landing she rejoiced at her great performance – an excellent jump and a nice telemark. The speaker informed everyone that Demetz was in second place behind Nata De Leeuw (Canada).

Then came the disqualification for the Canadian athlete – her skis were too long. Demetz saw her silver become a wonderful gold medal. Canada’s, Katie Willis won the silver while third place went to Slovenia’s Maja Vtic.
