Janda Wins Czech Big Hill World Cup

December 12, 2005 – Jakub Janda gave the home folks plenty to cheer about Sunday as he led both rounds to win a World Cup large hill (HS142) meet. Alan Alborn (Anchorage, AK), the lone American to qualify for the second World Cup of the weekend, was 34th.

Janda, the normal hill world champion, jumped 138.5 meter in the opening round and clinched the win when he went 141m on his final jump, giving him 289.1 points for the meet. Defending World Cup champion Janne Ahonen of Finland was second with jumps of 137.5 and 139 for 281.7 points. Alborn jumped 119.5, good for 101.1 points.
