April 30, 2008 – The Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club is looking for a full time head coach to join their successful and growing cross country ski racing program in Thunder Bay. Big Thunder Nordic Ski Club is one of the premier clubs in Canada located in one of the most supportive Nordic ski communities. The club has a long history of successful athlete and coach development. We offer a competitive salary and professional development opportunities.

Qualified candidates should have:
– minimum NCCP Level 2
– experience as a athlete or coach in a competitive racing program
– excellent communication skills
– good understanding of Sport Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development program

Callaghan Valley Training Centre

The Callaghan Valley Training Centre (CVTC) is seeking a full-time assistant coach to help with the implementation of a comprehensive competition, training and monitoring program for the CVTC Team, which is targeted for qualifying athletes for the National Ski Team.

A complete job description will be provided upon request.

The successful candidate must have the following experience/abilities:

* An extensive background in competitive cross-country skiing.
* The physical capacity to train with top-level athletes (both male and female).
* An understanding of the demands of international competition.
* An understanding of what is required to prepare athletes for the National Ski Team program.
* Strong waxing and ski preparation skills.
* Qualities as a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Level 3 NCCP or equivalent certification.
* The ability to communicate in French and/or skills for promoting the CVTC and team (web design and media skills) will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will apply the aforementioned experience and skills in fulfilling the following:

* Assisting the CVTC Head Coach in implementing a comprehensive competition, training and monitoring program for the team
* Promoting the CVTC and team
* Serving as a coach and athlete development resource for Cross Country BC
* Coordinating and providing coaching support for CCBC Regional Camps in the Vancouver to Pemberton region (Sea to Sky Corridor)
