Job Opportunities – Contractors for Sport Physiologist & Mental Performance at CSIO

July 16, 2018 (Toronto, ON) – The Canadian Sport Institute Ontario has two job openings available: Contractor, Sport Physiologist and Contractor, Mental Performance. CSIO is seeking Expressions of Interest from sport physiologists and from mental performance consultants who are interested in delivering services on behalf of CSIO on a contract basis.

Contractor, Sport Physiologist

Expressions of Interest
The Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is seeking Expressions of Interest from sport physiologists who are interested in delivering service on behalf of CSIO on a contract basis.

This position is casual . There is no obligation for the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario to provide the contractor with work.

Successful candidates will be added to CSIO’s Practitioner Roster and approached with contract opportunities as they become available. CSIO is seeking individuals located in the GTA and other areas of Ontario.

CSIO is committed to providing a world – class, multi – sport daily training environment for athletes and coaches through expert leadership, services, and programs.

Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide physiology support to targeted athletes. Specific responsibilities will vary by project. Some examples include:
• Deliver testing in the CSIO Lab or in the field, including data collection, entry and /or reporting of results.
• Deliver education sessions in the area of sport physiology.
• Work with coaches to design and develop effective yearly training plans that enhance performance.
• Collaborate as part of an Integrated Support Team, communicating effectively with coaches and other IST members to provide an integrated approach to optimizing/enhancing athlete health and performance.

• Maintain an accurate record of work conducted;
• Adhere to any professional codes of conduct appropriate to your profession or other codes of conduct that might be deemed applicable in general to sports science and sports medicine practitioners; and
• Maintain a proactive approach to personal professional development

Working Conditions/Special Requirements
• As the Canadian and Ontario high performance sport systems are in the process of some major changes in the delivery of sport performance programming and services, contractors must be able to work in a highly dynamic and flexible client service environment.
• Contract opportunities may be during irregular hours including evenings and weekends. • Contractor will be required to provide their own transportation to/from location of service delivery. G Class Driver’s licence beneficial
• Must be eligible to work in Canada

Qualifications / Skills
• Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in physiology, kinesiology, or related field;
• Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP);
• Certified in CPR and First Aid;
• Must hold Professional Liability Insurance
• Phlebotomy trained to take finger and ven e puncture samples;
• Minimum of 2 years working in a high performance sport environment;
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; and
• Ability to operate with a high degree of independence.

Salary Range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
