Job Opportunity – General Manager, Biathlon Canada

Biathlon Canada logoOctober 28, 2014 (Canmore, AB/Ottawa, ON) – Biathlon Canada, the National Sport Organization for biathlon in Canada, is seeking an energetic and motivated individual to fill the position of General Manager for its office in Canmore, Alberta or at the national office in Ottawa, Ontario.

The General Manager is a key position in the organization providing critical organizational and administrative support to Biathlon Canada’s international and domestic programs.

This is a full-time, term position starting as soon as possible and ending August 31, 2015 with a possibility of permanent full-time employment. The position will be based either in Canmore, Alberta or at the national office in Ottawa, Ontario depending on the selected applicant.

A successful candidate should possess:

  • Direct experience and commitment to High Performance sport, preferably in winter sport.
  • The ability to work as an engaged team player to support Biathlon Canada’s High Performance teams to achieve their goals.
  • The ability to manage a broad and diverse work load with a high degree of attention to detail and problem solving abilities.
  • Resourceful and independent attitude which includes accepting responsibility for new tasks and alertness to opportunities to add value to Biathlon Canada.
  • 5-10 years of senior leadership experience preferably in sport
  • Post-secondary education in Sport Administration, Physical and Health Education, Business or a combination of related education and experience.
  • Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft software programs and experience with web site management and web maintenance.
  • Experience with financial reporting and accounting. Knowledge of accounting procedures and software would be an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (essential) and French (highly desirable).
  • Receptive to working in a changing and evolving work environment.
  • Flexibility & willingness to travel as necessary for meetings and events.

As a permanent full-time employee, the General Manager will be eligible for employee benefits in accordance with Biathlon Canada’s employee benefits policy.  Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
