April 15, 2008 – The Ontario Blind Sports Association (OBSA) is a not-for-profit sports association which plans, promotes, coordinates and supports events and activities designed to stimulate and assist the development of sports programs for blind/visually impaired athletes in Ontario. The OBSA is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the contract position of Executive Director.

As the sole employee this position is hands-on and will endeavour to provide overall administrative and program coordination to this small sport association.

Job Description:
Executive Director
One Year Contract – Option to Renew

Responsibilities:
Office Administration
– Ensuring the smooth day to day operations of the office
– Coordinating the efforts of various committees
– Accounts payable and accounts receivable
– Works with the Ministry on available programs and funding
– Works closely with partners such as Paralympics Ontario, OWSA, OCPSA, OALASA, Swim Ontario, Ontario Track and Field to ensure the best possible opportunities for competition for OBSA athletes.
– Maintenance of the files and records of the association

Program Coordination
– Responsible for organizing OBSA programs and/or participants within the PO games program
– Coordination of teams traveling to national games.
– Development of demonstration clinics and sport promotions

Member and Volunteer Services
– Coordination of general services to membership
– Development of promotional material
– Maintain and update OBSA website

Qualifications
– Minimum 5 years related experience, some management experience preferred. Experience working in the field of sport for athletes with a disability is an asset.
– Post secondary degree in sports related field, including sport administration, physical education, recreation leadership or similar.
– Energetic, focused, dependable and collaborative
– Strong knowledge of amateur sport system within the Province and Canada.
– Excellent computer skills, high level of competence on Microsoft Office.
– Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
– Strong administrative and organizational skills
