The Oval’s High Performance Department delivers integrated technical coaching and sport services to community through to Olympic level athletes.  Reporting to the Manager of High Performance and Fitness, the Program Manager (PM) of High Performance Sports is responsible for overseeing the programming of High Performance Sport Programs at the Oval and integration of High Performance Services into these Programs.  Integrated High Performance services could include strength and conditioning, sport psychology, sport nutrition, performance testing and assessments and integrated school options.

The PM of High Performance Sports is responsible for supervising a team of technical coaches and service providers who deliver Oval HP Sport Programs. As the department grows, the PM of High Performance Sports will supervise a High Performance Coordinator(s).

Examples of Work:
– Oversee the operations and growth of Oval high performance sport programs and services. Planning and integration of existing and new high performance services (i.e. strength and conditioning, sport nutrition and performance testing & assessments), into programs and camps based on the vision developed by the Manager of the High Performance and Fitness.
– Creation of new sport programming and services based on trends and opportunities in the High Performance sport community.
– Prepare business plans and alternate approaches for program and service delivery
– Financial management of sport programs including collaborating on preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring revenues and expenditures, supervision of registrations, compilation of department metrics and preparation of information for reports and presentations.
– Manage the operations and growth of the High Performance Integrated School Model.  Act as a key contact with the Richmond Virtual School District’s administrators and teachers.
– Plan and execute on High Performance events and competitions. Requires collaboration with other departments including events, community sport and marketing and communication.
– Oversee existing and develop new administrative procedures and processes for High Performance Sport programs.
– Outreach to local, provincial and national sport organizations, potential partners and prospective clients in an effort to secure new business and strengthen existing relationships.
– Recruit, evaluate and manage technical sport coaches.
– Develop and maintain staff schedules.
– Collaborate on the development of marketing plans and managing the implementation of the plan across HP Sport programs and services. Marketing mediums include web, print, multimedia and social media
– Develop and deliver presentations to athletes, parents and sport partners on Oval programs for educational and business development purposes.

Qualifications:
– Post Secondary education in Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Business Administration or a related field.
– Knowledge and experience working in Sport and/or High Performance
– Highly developed interpersonal skills, communications skills (verbal/written) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts.
– Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in business operations and administration with a career path reflecting increased levels of responsibility.
– A minimum of 2 years experience in supervising and scheduling staff in a large scale facility.
– Understanding of the Canadian amateur sport system, funding cycles, the Canadian Sport for Life Model and the connection with local sport programs.
– Proven experience in building and sustaining effective relationships.
– Must be able to demonstrate ability to coach and lead a team of people to achieve results.
– Strong consensus building and conflict resolution skills are essential.
– A working knowledge of the inter-relationship between sport, fitness and high performance.
– Great attention to detail.
– Strong organization skills.
– Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
– Willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
– Computer literate – internet savvy and ability to learn new tools/systems quickly (i.e. website content maintenance, program registration software, social media platforms etc.)
– Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
– Must be able to successfully complete a criminal record check
