April 12, 2015 – The Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC) is seeking a dynamic and competent Project Assistant for the 2015 Summer Semester. Reporting to the Operations Manager, and working closely with the Education and Communication Coordinator, the Project Assistant will be responsible for assisting with several project-based initiatives including:

– Assisting with the development of content for a resource toolkit for SDRCC Arbitrators and Mediators;
– Developing new and updating existing content in the Online Appeal Panel Orientation toolbox;
– Providing background research into the development of a YouTube channel for the SDRCC and compiling a list of potential topics and speakers; and
– Updating the Appeal Policy Package

The Project Assistant will also assist SDRCC staff in the day-to-day operations of the Centre, including maintenance of social media platforms, as may be required.

The SDRCC was established on April 1, 2004 under the Physical Activity and Sport Act of 2003 to ensure the fair, equitable, transparent and timely resolution of disputes in Canadian sport. Effective June 1, 2004, the SDRCC became responsible for the adjudication of domestic doping cases in Canada. The SDRCC office is located at 1080 Beaver Hall Hill, Suite 950, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

This position will require a high level of attention to detail in the accomplishment of tasks and good interpersonal skills to be part of a small work team. The successful candidate will be autonomous, resourceful, and comfortable working in a busy environment.

Eligibility:
This position being offered as part of the SRDCC Student Internship Program, the successful candidate must first and foremost be enrolled in an academic co-operative education or internship program that is relevant to Sport Management and/or Sport Law.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must also:
– Be fully bilingual, with solid written and verbal communication skills;
– Have completed at least one full year of study in the above mentioned academic program; and
– Have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access and the ability to learn other basic computer programs.

Qualities: The ideal candidate will:
– Be a strong team player and able to collaborate on numerous projects;
– Be able to work independently and as a team member in a cross-functional office environment;
– Have knowledge and/or experience with the Canadian sport system;
– Have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
– Be able to recognize socially acceptable norms and adopt behaviours that are aligned with the values of the Centre; and
– Have the ability to maintain discretion and confidential information.
