June 09, 2014 (Vancouver, BC) – Objectives for the Provincial Assistant Coach, BC Adaptive Snowsports position are to work with the Provincial Head Coach to design, develop, implement and maintain the best possible Provincial Team program with the ultimate goal of developing athletes fit for the National Team. To work with the Provincial Head Coach to create a clear pathway for para athletes from the learn to race stage all the way to the Provincial Team.

To work with the Provincial Head Coach to design, develop and implement a strong Building Our Best program with the ultimate goals of providing race opportunities for adaptive racers of all disabilities and providing a platform for talent identification

Responsibilities, Tasks, and Duties Under the leadership of the Provincial Head Coach assist with the overall High Performance and race development programs including but not limited to:
• Organizing and planning of travel arrangements for team competition including transportation, accommodation and other related logistics with emphasis on athlete welfare and safety & budget
• Work with the High Performance Manager to define BCPAST selection criteria
• Produce appropriate and timely program evaluations and recommendation with emphasis on solutions within available resources
• Design individual athlete yearly training plans, KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and performance benchmarks
• Manage training and competition schedule based on athlete individual needs and team level
• Help athletes manage equipment needs
• Produce reports for training camps, competitions and athlete evaluations
• Assist with the development of a BCPAST Prospect program (including criteria, training and competition schedule and performance evaluations)
• Assist with the development of opportunities to identify athletes suitable for para-alpine racing in British Columbia
• Create a clear, streamlined pathway for athletes in an effort to prepare them early in the identification process
• Provide guidance and resources for developing athletes and their coaches
• Liaise with regional coaches of developing athletes to ensure consistent training
• Be knowledgeable about appropriate local, national and international rules & regulations of para-alpine skiing Building Our Best planning & implementation Under the leadership of the Provincial Head Coach assist with the design training environment for each camp appropriate to the level of participants and direct team staff as needed to ensure proper training set up Essential Skills & Qualifications:
• CSCF (Canadian Ski Coaches Federation) Development Level Certified
• Member in good standing with CSCF
• + 2 years Coaching experience
• FIS Level Coaching preferred
• Class 4 Drivers License with enviable driving record
• Ability to work as a team member, but also independently with little supervision
• Self-starter with excellent time management and organizational skills
• Proficient in Office applications
• Proven track record in developing athletes
• Criminal Record Check must be completed successfully on an annual basis, by September 1
• First Aid training
• Concussion training
• Attend education seminars as required
• Good understanding of alpine ski racing Long Term Skier Development Model.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian sport and ski racing system

General Information:
Provincial Office Location: 780 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5P 5Y7
Position location: Remote
Reports to: Provincial Head Coach
Position Level: Part Time/Seasonal (26 weeks, October to April)
Hours of Work: 30 hours per week (flexible work schedule)
Salary Range: $13,000-$17,000
Operational Expenses/Materials: Provided
Professional Development Opportunities: Provided
