May 29, 2013 – Cross Country Canada, the National Sport Organization for cross-country skiing in Canada, is currently seeking a seasonal employee in the role of apprentice wax technician with the National Ski Team. This position is designed to be part of a dynamic high performance team that is totatlly committed to developing and sustaining Canada’s international excellence in cross-country skiing.
This position requires extensive travelling during the entire ski season to attend competitions and training camps.
This position reports directly to the World Cup Team Head Coach. Cross Country Canada would like to fill this position as of July 1, 2013.
Term: Seasonal position, Nov.1, 2013 – March 31, 2014
General Responsibilities: These include but are not limited to the following:
– assisting the NST wax technicians in their regular duties
– executing base preparation, waxing and testing programs for training and racing
– ensuring that all equipment and waxes required to support race day ski preparation and testing are on location and operable
– maintaining a working knowledge of the operation of all NST equipment and the ability to perform simple field maintenance
– providing other race support, including splits and feed
– ensuring the proper packing of equipment, and its safe, cost-effective transportation from site to site
– assisting with the ground transportation of athletes, coaches and equipment as requested.
Required Qualifications:
– Excellent interpersonal and organizational expertise
– Ability to work as a team member and independent contributor
– Background as an accomplished athlete and/or work experience at the divisional or club level as a wax technician
– High level of fitness in order to assist with ski testing
