Madshus Sprints Cancelled at Western’s

provided by the CCC

February 9, 2005 – After two days of steady snow, organizers at Hinton Nordic awoke to bright clear skies and –24C temperatures on Sunday. Although the sun provided some warming over the day, the Jury, in consultation with visiting coaches, decided that racing was just too risky for the large field. Skiers from Jackrabbit age to Masters were scheduled to compete in the Madshus Sprints as part of the Haywood Canada Cup and Western Canadian Championships.

“We got two good days of racing but were really looking forward to tackling the sprints today,” commented Chris Leipe, Chief of Competition. “Everyone was a bit disappointed after such a great start to the competition.”

The final event in the Haywood Canada Cup Series will take place in Edmonton on Thursday, February 10 as part of the lead up to the Canadian Birkie on the weekend. Results will be posted at www.zone4.ca when available.
