April 19, 2011 (Ottawa, Ontario) – Athletes can now check their medications when out and about thanks to the new mobile-enhanced website for Global DRO (Global Drug Reference Online). Global DRO provides athletes and support personnel with information on products sold in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States and their status on the current World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List – click HERE.

Following a successful collaboration between national anti-doping organisations from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, the mobile-enhanced Global DRO launched on April 13. The new tool makes Global DRO more accessible, responding to the ever-growing popularity of accessing information through mobile media.

In Canada, the Global DRO is brought to the sport community by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) which administers the Canadian Anti-Doping Program on behalf of athletes. Paul Melia, President and CEO of the CCES, said, “Athletes need to be able to check a medication before they buy it in the drugstore or get a prescription for it in their doctor’s office. We think that both athletes and their health care team will find this mobile version of the Global DRO pretty handy.”
