More Snow At Nakiska

provided by Resorts of the Canadian Rockies

September 20 2003, (Calgary, AB) – Nakiska Ski Area has announced improvements to the state-of the-art snowmaking facilities at the resort. The $100,000 purchase of snowmaking nozzles and electrical upgrades will increase the snowmaking output by 40% for this upcoming winter. The new nozzles will not only provide the resort with an increase in snowmaking output but will do it in a more energy efficient manner resulting in lower electrical needs. “We are very excited about RCR's commitment to the latest in snowmaking technology, ” said Neil Jackson, General Manager of Nakiska. “The system upgrades will result in faster terrain opening, reinforcing Nakiska's commitment to provide great skiing and riding to our Calgary customers,” said Jackson.

The Olympic mountain located 90 kilometers west of Calgary in Kananaskis Country remains western Canada's premier race center. The improvements to the snowmaking facilities will ensure early-season conditions (weather permitting) for the teams that utilize the resort. Terrain throughout the resort will be affected by the improvement and should result in faster openings of trails on the mountain. The resort is set to open Friday December 5th, weather conditions permitting, for the 2003/04 winter season.
