Mountaineer Hans Weber Passes Away

May 31, 2009 (Chelsea, QC) – Mountaineer, scientist, and adventurer, Hans Weber, who lived in Chelsea, QC and helped found the Nakkertok Nordic Cross Country Ski Club in 1971 passed away recently at the age of 84. Weber, who was born in Switzerland, was huge outdoor enthusiast with a incredible career that included being a member of scientific expeditions in the Arctic, a film maker, an historian, and scaling an ice cap in Baffin Island.

His son Richard was part of the two-man team that became the first unsupported expedition to reach the North Pole in 1995. Weber is survived by his wife Margaret (Meg) and sons Richard, and Christoph. A younger son, Adrian died tragically in 2000.
