New Staff at Cross Country Canada

September 11, 2003 – Cross Country Canada is pleased to announce that the job competition that was conducted with a view to finding a replacement for Joanne Thomson in the National Office has been brought to a successful conclusion. The Selection Committee was impressed with the number and quality of applicants for the position, such that the choice was not an easy one to make.

CCC's new Coordinator of Administration and Communication is Suzanne Scriven. Suzanne comes to CCC with impressive academic credentials and an abundance of relevant work experience in law, business and office management. Since graduating from the University of Alberta with Bachelors degrees in both Commerce and Law, Suzanne has spent seven years in the legal profession as a student-at-law, legal assistant, paralegal and office manager, most recently in Victoria, BC. Suzanne's comprehensive skill-sets are rounded out by a fluent ability in French, acquired will earning a language diploma in France.

In parallel with a successful academic and business career, Suzanne has also pursued a life-long passion for sport. Suzanne's current involvement is with swimming, where she coaches several competitive swim teams and also participates as an active masters competitor.

Suzanne has recently commenced a Masters of Education program at the University of Calgary, with the intent of eventually moving into the field of sport and fitness on a full-time basis. CCC's job search provided just the opportunity she was hoping to find for making a dramatic career shift. Suzanne was attracted to CCC by its commitment to excellence and the strategic potential for the development of our sport in Canada. She wants to make a difference on a team that represents a multi-dimension sport and recreational activity and that has an ambitious and pragmatic vision for achieving its mission. The Selection Committee is convinced that Suzanne has both the capabilities and the attitude that will enable her to make such a difference.

Suzanne will be joining Joanne in the National Office for handover during the week of 15-19 September, after which she will return to Victoria to finish up with her present employer. She expects to be in the Canmore office on a full-time basis from the beginning of October.

CCC welcomes Suzanne to the team, and looks forward to benefiting from her enthusiasm, energy and competence as we stride towards 2010!
