New Year’s Eve Troll in the Park Cancelled

provided by Cross Country Alberta

December 30, 2005 – The New Year’s Eve Troll in the Park has been cancelled. The Alberta Winter Games qualification race scheduled for this day has been tentatively moved to the Edmonton Ski Club, still scheduled for December 31:

Zone 6 Alberta Winter Games Trials
Race Information:

Technique: Free
Race Start: 9:00am
Race Type: Individual start, 15 seconds
Mini-midgets will start first, followed by Midgets and Juvenilles

You may ski on the course prior to 9.00 am. After that warm-up and cool down is restricted to the south side of tow rope by bunny hill as to prevent interference with the race.

We hope to be finished with the race part by 10.15 am and take the race course down so the regular downhill activities can start. The Edmonton Ski Hill is doing us a great favour to let us for a small fee use their precious snow and will keep the lifts closed until the race is over. We’re also welcome to ski there anytime for $3 per day.

The race fee will be paid for with a grant from the Alberta Government. That means all racers (and volunteers) will ski free.

If your not part of the race you won’t be able to ski on the course until the race is over and you’ll have to purchase the regular $3 xc-pass from the hill.
All Lynx and Mammoth are welcome to race as well anybody who is eligible to go to the AWG. We would like you to preregister by email with Mike Dickinson. This makes our job a lot easier.

If you need to you may register Saturday from 8 am to 8.20 am at the race site.

Athletes/parents please send to sdickinson@shaw.ca for pre-registration by Dec 29:
Athlete last name
Athlete first name
Athlete date of birth
Athlete gender

No athlete can race without a signed waiver.

We will also need volunteers to help us run the race – registration, timing, results, marshals, controllers. I will need about 12 people. Call 461-1510 if you can help.
